new grinch movie by katie leclaire
This Friday, November 9th, The Grinch comes out in theaters. This film is a highly anticipated take on the much loved story of the Christmas curmudgeon the Grinch.
Following the classic plot of the original holiday story, 2018’s The Grinch gives a new spin to the tale using a more modern and unique form of animation seen in other Dr. Seuss based films such as Horton Hears a Who. Like the live action version that came out in 2001, the film will have some comedic aspect and likely many of its own subplots.
The cast for the movie guarantees an amazing film. The beloved Benedict Cumberbatch plays the Grinch, meaning viewers will be blessed with his famously satisfying voice. Also lending their vocals are Rashida Jones, Pharrell Williams, and Kenan Thompson.
The students at Saugatuck are getting hyped for this movie too. Zee Boyce expressed her appreciation for the new film: “I believe that they have been marketing The Grinch very well. They've had a lot of PR, which is good. I am very excited to see this rendition. I hope it’s funny, and I hope that isn’t the next Emoji Movie.”
All in all, The Grinch is a movie that will be enjoyable for people of all ages and one that can give viewers holiday cheer while serving as a classic, regardless of the season. The trailer is available on Youtube, and those who think this film will be the perfect for them can watch it in all major theaters starting this Friday.

Holiday season by zee boyce
Spooky season has come to a close for 2018, and now comes the very important friendship-ending, family-arguing, world-dominating question that determines the socio-economic standing of each individual in this world: when is it appropriate to start playing Christmas music?
The LeClaire sisters, Katie and Isabella, pretty much shouted “NOT UNTIL AFTER THANKSGIVING!” while they then complained about the Ravines having their Christmas lights up already. Ally Giles and Sophia Distefano agreed. “Pretty much after you’re done eating (at Thanksgiving), you can start playing Christmas Music.” Distefano exclaimed. “Once Black Friday hits, boom honey! You’re good to go!” Ally Giles said. “But nothing before!” To contrast with that, Lelaina Boyce said this over Snapchat: “We (referring to Zee Boyce and herself) have been listening to Christmas music for the last 10 years from June to January because of Nutcracker and all of our Cousin Christmas parties. I mean, it doesn’t matter to me.”
The verdict is… enjoy yourself! Christmas music is simply music, and it shouldn’t be another dividing thing amongst us all. So whether you’re a strict Thanksgiving and after holiday person or you’ve been listening to holiday jingles since January, enjoy the cold weather. For all those celebrating the holidays early, be sure to come to see the Nutcracker this weekend, 9th and 10th, at 7 pm in the SHS Auditorium to get into the holiday spirit.
